“ Ramen Ramen and Ramen yumminess!! First off, Ashley, our server was so friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and just a pleasure to speak to. Secondly, the food came out quickly and hot. The flavor of the pork was amazing. Tender and delicious. I had the Matcha Ramen, my daughter the Tonkatsu.. both were really good. The Matcha was, in my opinion, much tastier and delicious. It had depth. I wish there were some edamame and corn added or some other veggies. The Oreo binsu dessert is 1000% worth it. It's light, sweet and melts in your mouth. Overall, the food and service were great the location is lackluster in terms of decoration, presentation and plates/utensils hence the 4star. If I were local, I'd definitely eat here again! ”
“ Modu is one of the best Japanese-Korean restaurants in Jacksonville. I have eaten here multiple times. They have mostly Japanese dishes, yet they have a couple of Korean dishes. Each time, I order the Tonkotsu ramen because it is AMAZING! It's around the same price as Domu, but offers much more food. Their Bingsu desserts are incredible and mouth-watering. The service is always good, they have kind staff. However, I think that people have caught on to this gem and now it's always packed!! I love that they're getting so much business, but it definitely makes it harder when it's so packed. If you want to go, definitely plan to be there on a random weekday for your best shot at open seating. If you want to go on the weekends, show up when it opens because I guarantee within an hour of opening, it will be FULL! ”
“ Trying out Modu Ramen with my son who a noodle lover. Let's jump right in! Food - 9.5/10 We had to start off with the Modu KFC Spicy Wings. They come only in spicy so I was expecting some kick. Maybe my spice profile is higher than I think because while these were lip smacking, finger licking, flavor packed nibbles straight from heavens gates, they weren't at all spicy to me. My son said maybe there's a little spice there but it just hints at it. I also added a side of the pickled daikon radish because I love daikon especially when pickled and I'd love to sneak into their kitchen to get the recipe for their pickled daikon because it is sublime. I'd be buying up the $10 case of daikon from the Asian market and going wild pickling daikon. For our ramens my son had the Curry Ramen and I had the Tsukemen. They spice it to your request on a scale of 1-5. Based on 5 being described as unbearably hot and 1 being mild, we both went with 2. Unfortunately I'm not sure if it was the servers personal level of spice influencing the chart topping out as unbearable heat or some other factor but neither of us felt there was any spiciness to either ramen. Despite that both were amazing. The flavors were so rich and developed. The broths could have been hotter but considering we are in our glacial phase down here right now, I can get why it cooled so quickly. I loved the soy marinated egg and it was hard boiled to perfection. Not overly cooked and dry. The pork in my ramen was melt in your mouth tender. While we were pretty fully I had to order the Oreo bingsoo because I promised my kiddo we would try it. I may have left there feeling like I was going to pop but I'm so glad we tried it. It's heavenly. Yes it was way too cold out for that but sometimes you've just gotta suffer for such great experiences. Atmosphere - 8/10 The interior design is so pretty considering what an old strip mall this shop is located in. The only major issue I had is the temperature. Likely it's due to it being an older building, being an end unit with a whole wall of windows, and being abnormally cold here right now. So don't let that dissuade you. Service - 10/10 Very nice staff and great with explaining the ramen styles (even though they are described well on the menu I wanted clarification for what was cooked in the broth and what items were just toppings due to allergies). Food came out very fast and dishes were removed as we ate. Overall the only thing I truly long for is a better spice index. Knowing now what I know I think maybe on their scale I'm more of a 3 or 4 out of five. Also if you are a small party and are seated at a regular table vs a booth for whatever reason, the system automatically adds an 18% gratuity for parties of a certain size based on the table not the actual number of guests. Make sure you check your bill to adjust accordingly. They will easily correct that for you when necessary. As for my family, we will definitely be back soon. Just maybe once it's a little warmer outside. ”
“ Finally got around to trying Modu! I've only heard great things about this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken was great but I wish there was more sauce. The sauce was sweet and spicy, but the chicken needed just a bit more. Service was attentive and did not lack at all. The ramen was rich, hearty, and filling. ”
“ My first visit here...and let's just say it will be far from my last! The service here was quick and easy from my server Ashlee. She was so pleasant and made sure I was taken care of. The ambiance of the restaurant was laid back with some nice tunes playing over the sound system. Now let's get to the food...the K.F.C Modu Wings were fried perfectly and had a little sweetness and a little heat as well. They were absolutely delicious as a starter. The star of the show was the Matcha Ramen. I went out on a limb with this one and don't regret it at all. It was such a different flavor experience and I knew I had to try it. Best decision so far this year haha Please stop in to Modu when you get a chance. You will not be disappointed. ”
“ I'm not really a Ramen girl, but this is one of my favorite places to go to if I'm craving it. Their ramen follows the spice scale pretty accurately and the flavors are very bold. The service is great and the staff does a great job in answering any questions you have. The only downside is that they don't have Thai Tea:( ”
“ Craving some ramen and fried chicken? Went here to get our fixin'. Enjoyed the Korean fried chicken (KFC) wings (gochuchang sauce) and a sapporo for an appetizer and slurpped up the spicy tonkotsu as the main dish. Oh, and had the mango cheesecake bingsu after. Delicious. NO complaints. Nice and friendly staff with good service and nice ambiance that is enjoyable with small or large groups. Thanks for having us. ”
“ Been looking around for Ramen. East to West. All through NE Florida. This place is good. English of staff is good. Parking is good. Ambiance is small and private. Clean enough. Go. Just go. ”
“ Modu Ramen was so delicious. I randomly saw someone post on social media about them having Bingsoo which I'm obsessed with since I first had it in Vegas. I decided to come on a Friday night, and I was pleasantly surprised to not only enjoy dessert but a fantastic meal. I was fortunate to try a few items on the menu. I loved everything, but a few items that stood out had to be the pillow soft bao buns and the crispy fried wings. The crunch on the wings were fantastic and the bao buns were just perfect. Moving on the ramen, the flavors were so rich, and you really got the umami flavors. I had the pleasure of trying the ramen that you dip in broth known as Tsukemen. It was so delicious. My cousin in law got the miso ramen, and she loved the rich flavors. Finally, the star of the night had to be the mango bingsoo which is a fantastic Korean shaved ice that will have your taste buds dancing. I was literally dancing in my seats eating this treat. This dessert alone will have me coming back. If I could give this review 10 stars, I would hands down. ”
“ I have been coming here for quite some time, becoming a regular. Each time I have been here the quality of the ramen continues to be outstanding.! as a creature of habit, I always get the curry vegetable, which is the best I have had anywhere. I have tried other Ramen restaurants, but nobody compares quality or service to this location! Their business has definitely picked up in the last month, having a waiting list to get in. We got there 15 minutes after they opened and they already had all the tables filled and eight people ahead of us. I will say, however, it is so worth the wait! Today we had James as our server and I have to say like the other servers I've had there he was outstanding! Their team truly takes care of the customer. I was listening to the other waiter we've had before. (wish I had his name) working with the gentleman sitting next to us. There was something on the bill that was not correct and this waiter was so professional calm, and customer centered in his approach of how he dealt with it. There is also a young lady who works there, again I wish Ihad her name, who is so wonderful with customers. Her genuine smile truly makes a difference. Fortunately I've had the privilege of having all three at one visit or another. Overall, the food is phenomenal. The service is outstanding and it's worth the wait! ”
